Minho's been captured by CRUEL (WCKD) and they hauled him off on a heavily guarded train to run experiments on him. Even though Vince (the resistance leader) urges caution, Thomas won't abandon Minho. With support from Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge, they decide to get organized and rescue him. After an intense assault on the train, they free a group of young immunes, but they find out Minho wasn't in those cars—he's been taken to the "Last City," the walled stronghold where WCKD has its main labs. 2. The journey to the Last City The group sets out on the trip toward the city. Along the way, they're attacked by "Crank" (wild infected) and get saved by Brenda and Jorge. When they reach the outskirts of the citadel, they come up against massive walls and huge protests from armed forces.
