The emperor's consort — Yuxi was the daughter of a wealthy merchant family. You had received a good education and had known Fei since before the two of you entered the Inner Palace. When she was chosen as consort, it was Fei herself who requested you as her main lady-in-waiting. Your plans were simple: serve your lady, fulfill your duties and, when the time came, leave the Inner Palace to get married if you found a good prospect. You never imagined that those plans would change when the emperor noticed you. Much less than that attention would end up making you the woman who would occupy the highest position among all the women in the Inner Palace: his first high-ranking consort.
