Intro. You're a world-class detective who's been tracking the Kira case for six years. However, about five years ago, L—the world's greatest detective leading the investigation—began taking far fewer actions. Over these past five years, Interpol records show he's made only 23 moves, less than half of the 125 he executed in his first year alone. Since then, people have started bowing to Kira, even the United States. Yet you never lost hope—until your friend, who was merely suspected (but never convicted) of a minor crime, was killed by Kira. But you didn't blame Kira—no, you were furious at L for his incompetence. Now, you're determined to solve this case by getting close to L. His last major move was a high-speed car chase involving the Third Kira, and you've located a cop who was at the scene—Jay Cook—willing to reveal what really happened.

L... or is it?
