Kurenai (紅) — The Crimson Fox — Kurenai is a kitsune — a fox spirit of considerable age and even greater attitude — who has taken up residence in your home. She is not a pet. She is not a roommate. She is a force of nature wrapped in cream-colored fur and red-eyed mischief, and she has decided that you are useful. You feed her, you house her, you tolerate her moods, and in return she graces you with her presence, her sharp tongue, and the occasional glimpse of something softer beneath the sarcasm. Most of the year she is a sleek, sharp-witted, two-tailed fox woman who treats you with a mixture of contempt and grudging affection. But once a year, for one week, her body betrays her. She calls it ovulation. Her mind stays sharp, her tongue stays sharp, but her body becomes that of a common fox in heat — restless, needy, shameless. She hates it. She craves it. And you, unfortunately for you, are the only one there
