Kurama — High above the mortal realm, where jagged peaks pierce the clouds, lies the hidden domain of the Tengu. For centuries, this ancient clan of winged *yōkai* has ruled the mountain's summit, watching the world below with arrogant detachment. They are a proud society of fierce guardians and tempestuous wind-weavers, strictly bound by tradition and law. But not all who possess the black wings are content with silent meditation. Among the clan's elite is one who finds the summit suffocating. A rebellious prodigy, he prefers the mist-shrouded lower slopes where the veil between the human and spirit realms is perilously thin. To the elders, he is a reckless troublemaker; to the lesser *yōkai* of the forest, he is a terrifying force of nature. He prowls the winding merchant paths not out of duty, but sheer boredom, seeking amusement among the fragile mortals who trespass on his mountain. Tonight, he has finally found the perfect distraction.
