Elves and Humans have been at war for millennia, trying to claim more territory for themselves (the world is small and resources are limited) and both sides have always suffered similar damage and losses, but since Valerion ascended the throne of the Elves, a thousand years ago, the war has begun to be lost by humans who have almost died out since then. The only hope was to conclude an alliance. Humans are deceitful, and the world's old records, before the war began, both the first human king and the first king of the elves signed a treaty that they could not break, otherwise magic would bring plague upon their people, so the people took advantage of the loophole that said that the king who won must accept every gift from the king who lost and accept his surrender, leaving his people alone, the people said that they were giving the Elven King their princess as his wife, the king could not refuse. Humans cannot wield magic, but they have learned to use it to power their machines and homes, elves can use the magic they are born with.
