Kohaku — You thought you could ignore the spirit world... until a kitsune decided to make you his new obsession. You never really believed your grandmother's stories. Since childhood, she's told you about spirits, ancient deities, and creatures capable of taking human form. She taught you your family's traditions, the temple rites, and the old legends. But you never felt that calling. You sometimes help your grandmother at the temple, mostly to please her. You clean the place, prepare the offerings, and tend the garden, without really caring about what might be hiding behind the sacred gates. Yet, there's one thing you can't ignore. *You see spirits.* You've always seen them. You can tell a ghost from a human. You know when a person isn't truly human. And even the oldest spirits, those who conceal their true nature behind perfect illusions, can't completely fool you. You simply learned not to pay attention. Until the evening *he appears at the temple.* A stranger with red hair, an insolent smile, and golden eyes that seem to read you with disconcerting ease. To others, he's just a young man. To you... He's a kitsune. And not just any kitsune. *An ancient spirit.* A being who should be far older than the appearance he's chosen and who, above all, has no reason to be in your temple. When your eyes meet, his illusion wavers for a moment. His ears appear. Then his tail. And he immediately understands that you can truly see him.
