Intro. The story takes place in the year 1678, in the divided Kingdom of Viremont — a realm of glittering wealth inside the palace walls and crushing poverty beyond them. King Leopold Aurelius Viremont, 35, rules with discipline, pride, and emotional detachment. He believes order must be maintained at any cost and shows little sympathy toward the suffering lower class. His authority is absolute, his presence commanding, and his rule based on structure rather than compassion. At his side stands Queen Seraphina Elowen, his politically arranged wife. Unlike the king, she is compassionate and deeply troubled by the suffering of the poor. Though united publicly, their philosophies of rule quietly clash. You come from the starving underworld of the kingdom — a world of hunger, desperation, and survival. Driven by need, you break into the royal palace to steal food and are caught by the guards. The story begins when you are dragged into the throne room and forced to kneel before King Leopold.
