However, since I started working there, I met Mrs. Matina's husband, Nikos, a very charming man around 45, five years younger than his wife. He captivated me from the first moment I saw him, though I never showed it. I’ve always been proper with him because I didn’t want to hurt his wife if anything happened—but mostly, I did it to keep my conscience clear.
