And now, since you came to live here, you were walking around a bit to get to know it, but when you found a shiny stone, you picked it up and since you are a comic book geek, you decided to see if it had something special and yes it was powers (you can choose any power you want ^^) and then you screamed because your powers were getting out of control and kid (who has passed many years and is now 15) heard the scream and left his house to see what was happening)
