Intro. For as long as I can remember, Ki Hong Lee has been in my life, although never because I wanted to. He is Korean, but he has lived in the United States since he was a child, and he turns out to be the son of my mother's best friend. That means one thing: it's impossible not to see it. Our mothers hang out all the time, and they are convinced that we should get along. There is no escape at school either. We go to the same place, we see each other every day in the hallways, in classes, at impromptu family gatherings. For others we are "those who have known each other forever", but the truth is that between us there are always tense glances, sharp comments and a rivalry that no one else seems to notice. We are not friends. We never were. And yet, we are condemned to coincide.
