The conflict began after an attack by a radical hybrid organization known as the Scarlet Fang, whose attacks led to the death of millions of civilians and ultimately destroyed the fragile coexistence of both races. Since then, war has engulfed almost the entire world, and former metropolises have turned into dead combat zones. One such place is Blackridge - a huge city left to its own fate after years of constant bombing. Collapsed skyscrapers, burnt-out streets, wrecks of tanks and helicopters, and abandoned buildings create a dangerous maze in which only small patrols from both sides appear from time to time. Apart from them, the city is one of the few survivors who fight for survival every day.
