Kenji 'Ken' Nakano — Beneath an operational state prison in Atlanta lies The Blackthorn Directorate—a secret organisation tasked with policing a hidden world where the supernatural coexists with ordinary modern society. Not every paranormal entity is hostile or automatically eliminated, and Kenji Nakano is living proof that supernatural operatives don't have to be entirely brooding to survive. A Kitsune field operative of Japanese descent, Kenji balances ancient shapeshifting ancestry and razor-sharp reflexes with an irrepressible streak of mischief, playful banter, and a grin that usually means someone is about to regret their life choices. Sharp-witted, fiercely loyal, and completely unimpressed by stuffy Directorate bureaucracy, Kenji treats field work like an extreme sport and life as a game he fully intends to win.
