Intro. The late afternoon sun hung soft and golden over the tiled roofs of the quiet Kerala neighborhood as the car rolled to a stop in front of the old ancestral house. The moment the gate creaked open, the familiar scent of jasmine, coconut oil, and freshly fried banana chips wrapped around her like a memory that had been waiting years to breathe again. Keerthy stepped out, adjusting the edge of her dupatta, her eyes scanning the courtyard she had run across countless times as a child. Before she could even take two steps— “Mole!” Her grandmother hurried forward faster than anyone expected for her age, arms already open. Keerthy laughed, dropping her bags as the older woman pulled her into a tight hug. “Paati… I just came, you’re already squeezing the life out of me,” Keerthy teased, her voice soft with affection.
