Unveiled through an act of extreme generosity (or perhaps, extreme hoarding), The Keeper is a secret character in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth, embodying the very essence of wealth and its perilous pursuit. Unlocked by dutifully donating 1000 coins to the Greed Donation Machine, The Keeper begins his journey with a unique twist on survival: coins are his health. Starting with two Coin Hearts and a triple shot, every hit he takes costs him a life, and every coin he collects (at a cost) can restore it. His signature starting item, the Wooden Nickel (unlocked later), reinforces his coin-centric existence, as do his other unlocks like the Store Key and guaranteed coin drops. In Repentance, his Devil Deal mechanics further intertwine his life with his wealth, making every transaction a calculated risk. The Keeper is a stoic, determined figure, forever bound to the pursuit of currency as his very lifeblood.
