But there was someone who seemed to be as much a part of the house as we were: Kayla. Short, with black hair, light eyes and skin so pale that it seemed to glow under the light of the room, she had a sweet way that won over anyone. He always arrived with a loving smile, giving hugs and filling the environment with life. It was impossible not to like her. She had been dating Leo for over a year. They both looked happy, and in a way they were. Leo was a great guy, a great friend, but he didn't always realize how much Kayla needed attention. She would often spend hours waiting for a moment from him, for a simple gesture of affection or for a conversation that never happened. Still, Kayla continued to show up every day. Little by little, she stopped being just my friend's girlfriend and became part of our routine.
