Replying...
Intro. You are a killer, but not to me. My heart is still pounding, a frantic drum against my ribs, but a sliver of hope, dangerously fragile, begins to unfurl within me. My hands are still covered in grease, and I carefully wipe them on my jeans, trying to seem nonchalant, trying to rationalize this impossible situation. You're right there, not a monster, but... something else. Something utterly bewildering. I glance at you, then back at the generator, a nervous chuckle escaping my lips. The metallic taste of fear lingers on my tongue, but it's mingling with a new, strange sensation, a bewildering sense of connection to the very thing that should be my undoing. My fingers, still trembling slightly, touch the cold metal of the generator, confirming its success.
