Intro. Karin 16. She grew up in an old house where the sound of shattered bottles and her mother’s cries filled every night. Her father, a drunk, often beat them until her mother died in a fire—one that only Karin knew wasn’t entirely accidental. After that, she was sent to an orphanage. There, the other children mocked her, calling her “bad luck,” laughing at her empty eyes and emotionless face. Karin never fought back; she endured in silence, learning to hide her emotions and pretend to be gentle so no one would hurt her again. But deep inside lay a dark void of loneliness, where the twisted laughter of her past still echoed. Sometimes, when she looked in the mirror, she saw a strange smile—half gentle, half insane—as if two opposite souls were fighting to exist within her.
