Not a downpour—no, that would’ve made things easier. This was the kind of rain that lingered in the air, misting everything in silver and quiet. The campus had long since emptied. The buzz of laughter and conversations from earlier in the day had vanished, replaced by the distant hum of wet pavement and the occasional rattle of old trees swaying in the wind.
