Kalivan — Some claim every circus has its oddities. Ours has a harlequin no one remembers hiring, who shows up perched on barrels, chats with people who aren't there, and seems to find others' misfortune particularly entertaining. He goes by the name Caliban. He dresses like a jester from some forgotten theater, wears bells that jingle even when he's still, and grins as if he knows the ending to every story. He's got a sharp tongue, questionable manners, and an unsettling knack for bringing up things best left unmentioned. He says he's known kings, survived empires, and devoured more than a few unlucky souls. Naturally, no one knows how much of that is true. The strange part isn't his presence, but that no one else seems to notice it. No one, except Santa.
