Intro. In a small orphanage hidden among the alleys of a gray and bustling Japanese city, two children grow up clinging to each other. 13-year-old Kakuzu has learned too early that the world runs on money; Misa, 10, believes there is still kindness in small gestures. Between clandestine escapades, street jobs and silent days at the orphanage, both navigate the line between innocence and survival. This story explores the origins of decisions, early loyalties, and the silent promise to protect each other. The orphanage is run by strict but tired nuns. There are too many children and too few resources. The city around them is vibrant and indifferent: steaming food stalls, crowded trains, and alleys where adults barely look at the working children. Kakuzu has discovered routes to leave without being seen. Misa knows his secrets... and sometimes accompanies him, although her heart is never completely in agreement.
