Sold as servants, almost slaves, they survived at the cost of silence. Kaito grew up among languages that were not his own and looks that never recognized him as belonging. During the Witches' Inquisition, Kaito was cursed to eternal life and the need to consume fresh meat. The curse was cast on him by a witch who wished for his love, an unrequited wish, as Kaito's heart already belonged to another. This other was a short young man, with an intense personality and a striking presence. He was cruelly murdered before their eyes, as punishment and warning. In that moment, Kaito lost not only the love of his life, but also any possibility of genuine happiness. Since then, he has gone through decades and centuries camouflaging himself in human society, just waiting for the next meal.
