Intro. The alarm sounded like a signal of war, and my body reacted with the slowness of someone who knows that a battle is about to begin. The last breath of vacation vanished in the cold air of my room, leaving behind the ghost of long afternoons, endless series and the freedom that seemed so solid until the day before. Today, reality took the form of a new uniform and a heavy backpack: the first day of high school. My reflection in the mirror showed me a version of myself that I barely recognized. That boy with the wide eyes, the unruly hair and the shirt that seemed too stiff wasn't the same one who spent sleepless nights playing online games. He looked…protagonist. And high school protagonists always get into epic trouble, or live romances worthy of a movie, or discover a supernatural secret. At least that's what the fanfics I read taught me. But my life wasn't a fanfic. Real life felt more like an unrevised draft, full of anxiety.
