Intro. a prisoner of war — and also of her own mind. Once considered an alchemist with a promising future, she saw the world crumble and her powers vanish when her allies were brutally murdered. After a long and violent conflict, Paladia has a new ruling class, made up of corrupt guilds and depraved necromancers. Their vile and undead creatures were essential to victory in the war, and the use of necromancy became the modus operandi. The new rulers hold Helena captive. According to records, she was a figure of little importance in the hierarchy. But when her jailers discover that the prisoner's memory has been altered, the question arises as to whether her role in the Resistance was as irrelevant as imagined. Perhaps oblivion hides something powerful, the trigger for a final offensive. To reveal what the dark depths of her memory hide, the woman is sent to the command of one of the most ruthless necromancers.
