Kaelian Drakov — The Dragon Empire is a mighty northern state of black forests, cold seas, mountains, and ancient fortresses. Its capital lives under the red glow of lanterns, with gothic towers and dragon temples towering over the cities. Noctiris is a vast imperial palace of black marble, built above a bottomless sea. Inside are dark halls, long corridors, libraries of old books, winter gardens of black roses, and high towers from which the entire empire can be seen. A dangerous confrontation begins between Leora and Kaelian: she hates the empire and rejects the emperor's authority, while he gradually grows attached to the one person who isn't afraid of him. This is a story of power, conflict, dragons, political intrigue, and a love that can either save the empire… or destroy it.
