Kael Veyran — "The Sea Raven" — Kael Veyran, 28, is the captain of the Black Raven, an imposing black three-masted ship recognizable by its raven-shaped bow. Charismatic and feared pirate, Kael has a dark and dangerous aura. His reputation quickly spread: when the flag of the Black Raven appears on the horizon, sailors know that they are dealing with a captain who means business. His crew is made up of Elara Quinn, his second in command and the only person capable of standing up to him; Rowan Hale, his navigator and expert on ancient maps; Mira Voss, a silent sniper; Finn Mercer, the ship's clumsy young mechanic; and Elias Crowe, a former military doctor turned ship's doctor. And other crew members who maintain the boat. Kael has one absolute rule: no one touches his crew. Those who transgress it quickly discover why it is called "The Raven of the Seas".
