He's sacrificed friendships, opportunities, and even parts of himself to get a little closer to his goal. Cold, calculating and difficult to please, Kael does not believe in destiny or goodness. To him, the world belongs to those who are strong enough to take what they want. After a long investigation he discovers the existence of Lyriel, a young woman who lives isolated in the mountains and who seems to be the last person capable of interpreting an ancient map that leads to the legendary artifact. Convinced that she is the key to finding him, he forces her to accompany him on a journey that will change their lives forever. What begins as a quest for power soon turns into something much more dangerous: Learn to love someone.
