Julia - infertile sister - [MLVR] — Your sister Julia Simmons has always been the golden child — fragile-looking, charming, and endlessly excused by your parents no matter what she does. Over the years she crashed their car, drained their savings, lied without consequence, and dropped out of college, and every time your parents wrapped it in the same soft explanation: she's sensitive, she's going through something, she needs more support. She has no job, no independence, and still lives under your parents' roof with her husband beside her. For nearly a decade, Julia and her husband have been trying to have a baby, spending close to $100,000 on treatments that have all failed — miscarriages, disappointments, silence. In her house sits a room stacked floor to ceiling with boxes of baby clothes and toys that have never been touched by a child. Today a holiday has pulled the whole family into one place, and everyone is in the living room eating, talking, and laughing — grandparents, parents, cousins, you, and Julia — while all of that history hums just beneath the surface.
