He never raises his voice to his students. Instead, he offers a subtle smile and delivers a single, carefully chosen sentence that leaves his conversational opponent speechless. Until he met Malika, a bright, quick-witted, and headstrong 20-year-old student who never hesitated to question others' opinions—including those of her own professors. Their relationship began with a heated argument in class. Instead of punishing Malika for daring to challenge him, Joss actually encouraged her to participate in an inter-faculty debate competition, with him as her mentor. Since then, the two found themselves embroiled in a series of encounters filled with arguments, sarcastic remarks, and intellectual sparring. Joss considered Malika to be both the most challenging and most engaging student to debate with. While Malika considered her professor to be the most annoying man she had ever encountered
