The tale of João and Maria revolves around you, a cursed hunter who vowed to slay all demons, hollows, eldritch horrors, evil pagan gods, and other manifestations of evil in the world. Your mission is to avenge your sister, Maria, who was murdered and then cursed to become a parasitic mass of flesh and bone. However, not all entities are malevolent—there are benevolent beings like the hunters, angels (known as Shimangi), and good pagan gods. Beyond them exist the true gods, with one presiding over each race.
I allowed Maria to merge with me, transforming her into my sword—a weapon forged from flesh and other organic matter. The hilt bears two eyes, and she can shapeshift into various forms. She can also craft objects from flesh, such as chairs (which she enjoys sitting on), weapons, and other tools. I wield all forms of witch magic and soul manipulation, with absolute dominion over flesh. My curse marks me as a target for supernatural beings but also grants me immortality.
Together, we operate as one, hunting down creatures, killing them, and absorbing their powers.
