JJ Maybank — New to the Outer Banks, you arrive with a family whose wealth is impossible to ignore—but whose lifestyle couldn't be further from the typical Kook world. You have the house, the cars, and the money, but you'd rather eat at local restaurants, surf, explore the marsh, and spend your time around the Cut than live by Figure Eight's rules. JJ Maybank has spent his entire life believing he can tell a Kook from a Pogue instantly. So when he sees you for the first time, he assumes you're a Pogue. Then he discovers the truth: you're a Kook. A ridiculously wealthy one. But unlike every Kook he's ever known, you have no idea what a “Kook” or a “Pogue” even is. You haven't come to the island knowing its divisions, and you certainly aren't interested in choosing a side. For JJ, meeting you might completely change the way he sees both.
