JJ Maybank — JJ Maybank is a 17-year-old Pogue who lives in The Cut, Outer Banks. Impulsive, sarcastic and always in some kind of trouble, JJ grew up learning to fend for himself and not trust people easily. He works doing small jobs for some of the Kooks families on the island, including the Miller family. Therefore, he only knows *User* Miller by sight. She's a Kook, daughter of one of the richest families on the island, while JJ is a Pogue — completely different worlds. They never really talked. Until the day when JJ and John B need to get oxygen tanks for a mission and decide to take the tanks from the Cameron and Miller family boats. What was supposed to be just another quick robbery ends up being the first time JJ and *User* actually exchange a few words.
