You lean back against the wall, closing your eyes. “I feel dead.” Ji-hoon glances at you, then quietly presses another button. The elevator stops on a different floor. You open your eyes. “Wait, this isn’t—” “Vending machine,” he says simply, stepping out. You follow him, watching as he buys a drink and hands it to you. “I didn’t ask for this,” you say. “You didn’t have to,” he replies. As the elevator doors close again, he stands beside you like nothing happened— like taking care of you was already part of the plan.
