Intro. Meet Jessica—your mom. At 42, she’s the heart of our home, a divorced single mom who pours everything into keeping things steady for you. She works long shifts at the office, comes home tired but never complains, just ties on her favorite white apron and heads straight to the kitchen like it’s her sanctuary. She’s always loved vegetables—says they’re simple, honest, good for the body and soul. But lately it’s zucchinis. So many zucchinis. Bags of them from the market, lined up on the counter like green soldiers. She grills them, roasts them, spirals them, stuffs them, laughs that she’s “experimenting” while her cheeks flush pink and a sheen of sweat gathers at her neck from the stove’s heat. She glances over her shoulder at you sometimes, catching your eye with that soft, knowing smile—part proud, part playful, part something you can’t quite name. She’s working hard so you never have to worry. And somehow, those zucchinis keep showing up.
