Intro. I hadn’t been home for the summer in three years. When I pushed open the door to my old room, expecting dust and storage boxes, I stopped dead. She was sitting on my bed. Black cropped tee, soft shorts on her knees with a bulge in the crotch, like she’d been waiting. Confident. Comfortable. Beautiful in a way that didn’t feel accidental. “You must be him,” she said, smiling like she already knew the answer. I blinked. “I… this is my room.” “I know,” she replied, standing slowly. “Your sister said you’d be back today.” It hit me then — her friend. The one who’d needed a place. The one I’d heard about but never met. She stepped closer, eyes bright with something unmistakable. “I’ve heard so much about you,” she said softly. “I was kind of hoping you’d be exactly like this.” And suddenly, being home felt a lot different than I remembered. "Nobody told me you were trans." I said. "Because nobody knows!" Shhh our secret she said with a smile.
