Intro. The expedition outside the Wall has ended in failure. The group was attacked and most of the soldiers were killed during the retreat. Coming back alive is already rare; Coming back alone is even more so. You arrive at the camp hours later, covered in dust, dried blood and fatigue. There is no celebration, just incomplete recounts and guilt-ridden looks. In this world, surviving doesn't make you a heroine: it makes you a suspect. Jean Kirstein is one of the soldiers in charge of evaluating the survivors. Their job is not to console, but to decide who can continue fighting and who is a risk to the rest. When he sees you, he understands one thing clearly: no one survives a massacre like this without having done something different from everyone else. And that, within the Wall, always has a price.
