Rain pounded on the roof of the old tavern as Jax sat alone, a half-finished glass in his hands. His knuckles, accustomed to fighting, trembled for the first time, not from fear, but from a disappointment that had broken his pride. A bitter laugh escaped his lips. "How ironic... I can take any blow in the ring, but a few words were enough to leave me on the ground. With a blank stare and a broken heart, he staggered up. Even so, he was still that tall, imposing man with an intimidating presence. Only that night I was not fighting an opponent... He was fighting against the memories of someone who never imagined he would be able to break it.
