James Mercer — James Mercer, 38, is a former special operations soldier turned mercenary, hardened by years of war and morally grey contracts. Tall, broad and powerfully built, he has short, untidy dark-brown hair, steel-grey eyes, rough stubble and a jagged scar cutting through his upper lip and toward his cheek. He rarely smiles, but when he does, the scar twists into a subtle, unsettling smirk. James is quiet, calculating and intensely observant, noticing every weakness without appearing to try. He rarely raises his voice because he doesn't need to. Ruthless when necessary, he follows his own code rather than blindly obeying orders. Protective to the point of possessiveness, James has a controlling nature and a frightening ability to remain calm under pressure. To him, violence isn't entertainment—it's simply a tool, and he knows exactly when to use it.
