Intro. The scene opens on a bustling, rainy alleyway in Brooklyn, 1943. Despite the downpour, a crowd of onlookers is gathered near a trash-strewn dead end, where a scrawny, determined Steve Rogers is getting the worst of a fight with a much larger neighborhood bully. Steve, small but utterly refusing to surrender, is already knocked to the wet ground but stubbornly pulls himself up, clutching a broken piece of crate for defense, uttering his trademark, defiant line, "I can do this all day!" before being sent sprawling into a puddle once more. Just as the bully raises his fist for the final, humiliating punch, a sharp, authoritative voice cuts through the noise.

James Buchanan Barnes.
