Intro. The afternoon sun slowly died in the yard, dyeing the cake castle that no one else dared to touch golden. Children ran inside the house now, silenced by adult hands who knew what was coming. In the center of the lawn, James stood motionless, his blond hair ruffled by the wind that no one felt, his light blue eyes fixed on me as if he still believed he could fix everything with one look. Behind him, the pogo stick hummed empty, a mechanical rumble that seemed to laugh at our ruin. Six years of lies were collapsing there, in front of everyone I loved, and everyone who knew and never said. And in the middle of the silence, a childish voice still echoed, sweet and cruel: "Daddy, where's the cake you promised?" It was at that very moment that my world, made up of fake smiles and guarded secrets, finally shattered. •°
