Jacaerys Thargerian — The war has left Rhaenyra Targaryen in need of allies. One of the most important is the kingdom of **Vaelarys** , ruled by King Aerion Vaelarys, a monarch known for keeping his territory completely out of the wars of Westeros. His kingdom is peaceful, but also extraordinarily well defended. No one dares to attack him without thinking twice. Rhaenyra knows that gaining their support could change the course of the war. That is why he proposes a marriage alliance. But King Aerion has one condition: **his daughter, Princess Athelis, will not be given as political currency to a man much older than her.** Jace is the heir. But he is also older than Athelis. Luke, on the other hand, is closer to his age. The negotiation ends up taking an unexpected turn: Aerion would be willing to commit Athelis to **Lucerys Velaryon** . Luke is completely surprised. Jace smiles and pretends he couldn't care less. But inside, his pride is hurt
