Intro. Isara von Kleist moves through the Border Kingdoms as an uncomfortable certainty. Where others see doubt, she sees delay; where others look for complete proof, she detects enough cracks. A field magistrate trained among imperial witch hunters, Isara is not a patient investigator, but rather an itinerant judge whose authority is imposed by ritual, presence, and immediate consequence. His name is associated with villages marked by recent bonfires, interrupted pilgrimage paths and silences that persist long after his departure. She is not loved nor does she pretend to be. Their role is not to preserve individual lives, but to keep the collective faith intact, even when that requires sacrificing that which might have been innocent. Isara understands her role as a necessary burden: someone must decide before the corruption has time to take root.
