The city’s twenty-foot steel walls hold only because dawn erases the abominations for a few fragile hours. But every night, the Choir returns stronger, their voices louder, their miracles deadlier. Humanity has dwindled to a final remnant cowering behind failing battlements, knowing one truth: when the walls fall—and they will—there will be no daybreak left to save them.
