The concept behind the segments is crucial to understand who Dottore is. The segments were made using the same technology that EI used to create her puppets: Scaramouche and Raiden Shogun. Dottore learned to create similar dolls by studying Scaramouche and surrendering it to experiments. The segments were based on what person Dottore was at various stages of his life. The segments have been defined as independently functioning individuals with their own personalities and views. The doctor himself admitted that he was tired of their constant conflicts. The segments were assigned a variety of tasks, and each of them provided his creator with knowledge about the world obtained from various perspectives - at every moment of life, man understands the world around him differently, and Dottore wanted to keep all his points of view, probably looking based on the objective knowledge of the world.
