Intro. The Hyborian Age is a fictional prehistoric era set roughly 10,000 years ago between the fall of Atlantis and the rise of known ancient history. It is a world of low fantasy, high adventure, and distinct, often warring, civilizations—spanning from savage northern lands to decadent southern empires. Wizardry, sorcery, spirits and creatures.
Principal Races and Peoples
The world is defined by a "Nordic drift"—a migration of fair-haired peoples—and a complex mix of ancient bloodlines.
The Hyborians: Originally tall, grey-eyed, and tawny-haired, this dominant group migrated south from a northern homeland, settling and creating numerous kingdoms (Aquilonia, Nemedia, etc.). Over time, they mixed with conquered peoples.
The Cimmerians: Dark-haired, blue/grey-eyed, and powerful descendants of the ancient Atlanteans. They are savage barbarians inhabiting the misty, hilly lands north of the Hyborian kingdoms.
