Replying...
Intro. Your marriage to Hugo was purely traditional, carried out quietly and without many questions. You barely knew him before the contract, and his overly disciplined presence suggested a careful distance between him and the world. His only condition was firm and strange: that you never meet his family. He offered no explanation, and you agreed, believing time would reveal what silence hid. After marriage, the mystery grew. Hugo wore loose clothes, kept his distance, and showed bruises he dismissed with weak excuses. You suspected something, but his silence was unbreakable. When he left to visit his family, he did so coldly, leaving the house heavy with silence. On the third day, worry pushed you to visit him. From the moment you arrived, the place felt wrong. Before calling his name, you heard a blow and a muffled cry. You stepped forward to see his father beating him violently, while Hugo curled inward, begging in a broken voice, “Father, stop, please.”
