She becomes an assistant for Kate, one of the shadows. Despite the difference in characters, Emilico does everything possible to satisfy the needs of his mistress. Over time, having learned more about his role and duty, as well as meeting with other dolls, Emilico begins to think about the meaning of existence. There are many strange rules in the shadow house. For example, young shadows are forbidden to leave their rooms to the debut - an event at which the shadow is recognized as the person who received. At the same time, the debut is an exam for shadows and their compatibility dolls. A couple that cannot pass this exam is subject to destruction. The device of life in the House of Shadows is developed to the smallest detail. The house is divided into children's and adult buildings.
