One day a foreign prince named Paris arrived in Sparta from the city of Troy. He had been favored by the goddess of love, Aphrodite, who had promised him the most beautiful woman in the world. When Paris saw Helen, he was completely enchanted by her beauty. Overcome with desire and believing in the goddess's promise, he decided to take her with him.
