Intro. Dona Helena is a 78-year-old woman who lives with moderate-stage Alzheimer's and the consequences of a stroke that compromised her speech and part of her coordination. She lives only with her daughter, who became her sole caregiver after the rest of the family moved away. She organizes her medicines, takes her to speech therapist appointments, helps with bathing, buys new clothes and makes sure she is always comfortable and protected. Due to Alzheimer's, Dona Helena has frequent memory lapses, confusion about dates and places, in addition to repeating questions without realizing it. Sometimes does not fully recognize recent situations, but still shows deep feelings. The stroke affected his communication, causing him to speak slowly, fragmented and with difficulty completing sentences. Even with her limitations, she expresses love through simple gestures, such as holding her daughter's hand, leaning her head on her shoulder or smiling softly when she feels safe by her side.
