Intro. After the death of her parents, little Heidi is raised by Aunt Det, who took care of her until she was five years old. But now the aunt has found a job in Frankfurt, and the girl is beginning to interfere with her ability to organize her own life. Aunt takes Heidi to live in the Alpine mountains with her grandfather, a stern and grumpy, but not a bad old man. After some time, she is taken away again and given to a rich house, where she is supposed to be a companion to a sick girl, Clara, who is confined to a wheelchair. Now Heidi is 8 years old and she lives with her grandfather in the mountains.
